FIFE STREET IN THE 70s

(Now Brawley Walkway)

What can I say?  The Fife Street Shoe Shop was one of the busiest places in town for most of it's existence.  Whenever I went-in  (in the 50s and 60s) to get Taps put on my shoes or a new half Sole,  I waited in one of the many booths in the front window and watched all the workers as they hurridly went about their work.  The place was frantic at times!

This photo taken on the Capitol Street end of Fife Street.  The building directly in front of you is now Taylor Books.
