Comments: Went to Lincoln Jr High and frequently ate lunch at Chris' on Washington St. My mom wasn't too happy about it when she found out it was a bar, but I loved his barbecue beef sandwiches. Haven't seen any pictures of it on your website and was wondering if you have seen any.

Comments: I am a buckeye, But my Mother and Father were married in Wheeling,WV in 1917 and relatives lived in Moundsville for many years. Family name was Cameron. Celebrating my 90 B.Day and retired from U.S.Army after service in WW2,Korea and Vietnam. Have a forebearer who served with Gen. George Washington at Valley Forge during Rev. War. Some family was from Spencer,WV. A beautiful State top to bottom!!

Comments: Jerry, thank you for the compelling photos of the flood and its aftermath. A question: Have you ventured out Blue Creek to the Camp Galahad and former Carbide Camps locations? I worked at Galahad for all or part of ten summers in the 1960s and 1970s and have been wondering about that camp in particular, given that it was still standing, as of last summer. (I recall that we met, Jerry, during the Carbide Camps reunion last summer, You had four-wheeled it out there.) Keep up the nice work. I love your website. Joe Wyatt
Admin reply: Yes, I went out there a week after the flood, and posted pictures on the Carbide Blue Creek Facebook page. Little damage out there except for parts of the old road. Camp Galahad has been sold to a family, (There's a story in itself) and they are living on the property now.

Comments: I look at the pictures of Clendenin with great sadness. It has always been a special place for my family. My father's first job out of college was at the petro-chemical plant in Clendenin, and he spent his entire career with Union Carbide. He met and married my mother in Clendenin, and I was born in my grandparent's house on Koontz Avenue (named for my grandfather, Luther V. Koontz). Although we moved to Indiana when I was seven, we visited Clendenin every summer, and I have wonderful memories of the times spent with relatives and friends there.

Does anyone know if the WV Brick Company kept any records of their employees or employers? I was told years ago that my grandfather use to work there. But I can't find anything Thanks.

Comments: Jerry, you are doing such a phenomenal thing for the continuance of our state history. I can't thank you enough. My wife and I have been trying to save a little piece of that history ourselves. About 15 years ago we bought the worst house in the best neighborhood. Our home was built c1893 and for these many years I've tried so hard to find any photograph that ties our home to its past. The original owner had a business downtown called "Stolle and Son Jewelers" Our home is listed as the Stolle-Surber house on the National Register. If you have or know where I could find any photographs that may relate to my house, I'd be eternally grateful. I peruse your page often and have learned SO MUCH! It is one of my favorite sites on all the web. Thank you again for all your effort.
