"But mommy mommy... I want the pink toy!"

Wonder how many little kids have said these words in the Town Center Mall?

I'm a firm believer that a store can sell whatever it wants.  I'm also a firm believer that you should have
some sort of idea of what the store sells before you walk into it.  Some stores ( like Spencer Gifts)
sell lots of cute innocent things... at least that's what they display in the front window.   These displays attract children into the store where the "real deal" is on display.  Like... candy penises,  candy breasts and other body parts.  ( This store also proudly displays a huge pink penis piñata.  I don't want to know what comes outta that. )  An entire section of these stores are designed for the adult market with
products that I'm pretty sure is against the law to be viewed by minors.   How about a catchy display of
stuffed plush penises located 18 inches off the floor where any small child might grab one or two and
beg an embarrassed mommy to "buy them for me"!   But any real mom would immediately walk out of this store LONG before she arrived at the plush penises!  Am I old fashioned for thinking this way?....

Do you think that society feels that  sex and plush penises are so cute and funny that even children
should also enjoy in on the fun?   If not,  do you think that stores like this should have very visible
warnings at the entrance that it contains adult material?  Should  the store manager inform the employees
to ask children to leave the store?   Do YOU allow your children to patronize these adult stores?  There
is a "Record Store" in Kanawah City that sells more adult porn items than anyplace in town.  Do your
kids buy their "music" there?  Should they have an indication at the door that they're "More than just
a music store?"

Again,  I have NO problem with the store selling whatever trash they want.... but let's at least keep the
kids out ok?  They'll have enough problems dealing with sexually transmitted diseases down the road.

However.... I do have a problem with an entity that the taxpayers of Charleston have a stake in:  The
Town Center Mall has been the pride of downtown Charleston,  and as the people of this area have a
direct financial connection  ( tax-wise )... it behooves the City to make sure that nothing happens to
tarnish the reputation of it's investment.  What's next?  An adult bookstore and peepshow?
