Charleston National Bank
Here you see both the front and back of the old Charleston National Bank
The bank was torn down so as to widen Quarrier Street and eliminate the dogleg. Half of the remaining space was used to build a McDonalds, which surprisingly failed after a few years of business. It was then torn down and a restaurant with an English theme was built, which utilized real London double decker busses as the dining rooms. That only lasted a few years and was also torn out for the most part where a French restaurant was then opened. That restaurant is closed as of this writing. It seems that this corner has been nothing but bad luck for anyone trying to conduct business. I mean, if a McDonalds cant make it, who can? The Summers Street side of the property was taken by the city to build a parking garage. |
